HOW WE STARTED

Ten years ago, a social movement of people who feel the sensitivity of apparent gender insensitivity in government in the West African Sub-region and the untoward effect of poverty, disease and underdevelopment orchestrated on the lives of the community of the region, triggered a shift from serial training module to a niche institute. Today we are a standout institute driving gender and women education, child and social policy concerns in west Africa. The learning community is constituted by experts, professionals, policy makers, development practitioners and law-makers, a wholesome amalgamation of gender voices into strategic change agency roles. A fast- track change management model that proved its worth.

OBJECTIVES OF THE INSTITUTE

The objectives of the WIGS include the following:

OUR MISSION

To bring about a policy and people interaction inbuilding the competencies of change agents, policymakers, legislators, advocates, activists and all people connected in achieving a gender responsive governance or community in the sub-region.
